Base pay range$80,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Port of Beaumont is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to safely and efficiently operate Port-owned cranes, including 140‑ton Liebherr, 220‑ton American, 130‑ton crawler cranes, and other heavy equipment.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain 140‑ton Liebherr, 220‑ton American, and 130‑ton crawler cranes.
- Perform routine maintenance, painting, and minor repairs on cranes and hoisting mechanisms.
- Assist with crane rigging for lifting and moving equipment or commodities according to size and weight.
- Provide directions to overhead crane operators to ensure safe handling of heavy loads.
- Work standard hours (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday) and participate in after‑hours or weekend operations as needed. Remain on call for 24‑hour availability when necessary.
- Operate backhoes, forklifts, dump trucks, and sweepers, as directed.
- Perform fabrication, welding, and burning tasks as needed.
- Maintain and repair other Port equipment and machinery.
- Assist with cleaning and upkeep of Port facilities, sheds, and aprons.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must navigate moving machinery and traffic safely and handle safety hazards.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Clear vision and alertness required; good far vision (20/20 or correctable) required.
- High school diploma/GED or five (5) years of related crane experience.
- Certification or ability to become certified to operate all Port cranes.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with co‑workers, customers, and the public.
- Leadership and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must comply with all Port safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
