Who We Are

Thermo Systems is a global, full-service control-systems integrator delivering world-class automation for Mission Critical, Life Sciences, and District Energy facilities. Our culture—
The Thermo Way
—is built on connection, adaptability, and excellence, empowering engineers to perform at their best while supporting customer success and company growth. We value teamwork, innovation, and integrity, creating a workplace where every individual makes a visible impact.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Control Systems Project Engineer with 4–10 years of experience in mission-critical environments to take a lead role in controls programming, integration, and quality execution for hyperscale data-center projects. This role focuses on design-phase coding and system integration. You’ll program Schneider PLCs, develop AVEVA SCADA operator interfaces, and leverage Ignition for power-monitoring data aggregation. Working as part of Thermo’s Detailed System Integration (DSI) team, you’ll hand off to our Construction / Site Integration (CSI) partners for installation and commissioning support.

Because every site is complex and far from plug-and-play, we need adaptable engineers who thrive on problem-solving and can deliver reliable, well-tested control logic under demanding conditions. The contract specifies 7 + years’ experience, but we’re open to 4–5 years for exceptional, proven talent.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, program, and integrate PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems using Schneider Modicon (M580/M340), AVEVA System Platform, and Ignition.
  • Develop control logic, interlocks, alarm handling, and reusable function blocks that meet project standards.
  • Generate and maintain detailed design documentation, including P&IDs, I/O lists, and control narratives.
  • Review and clarify design packages; draft and respond to RFIs to resolve discrepancies.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and collaborate with CSI teams for field start-up and commissioning (L1–L3).
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action tracking to ensure adherence to Thermo’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Partner cross-functionally with BIM, networking, and field engineers to align control logic with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous-improvement efforts within the DSI group.
What You Bring
  • Education: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience: 4–10 years in control-systems engineering; 7 + preferred.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • PLC programming – Schneider Modicon (Control Expert) or Rockwell Control Logix.
    • SCADA development – AVEVA System Platform, Ignition, or Factory Talk.
    • Strong understanding of P&IDs, control narratives, and instrumentation documentation.
    • Experience generating or resolving RFIs.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and comfortable interfacing directly with clients and field teams.
  • Nice to Have: Construction field exposure, QA/QC implementation experience, familiarity with BIM coordination or networked OT/IT systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of work authorization required.
  • Fit for duty at all times.
Our Culture & Benefits

We live our core values every day:

  • Drive Employee Success: Build trust, collaborate, and grow together.
  • Drive Customer Success: Take ownership, over-communicate, and exceed expectations.
  • Drive Financial Strength: Deliver efficiently and continuously improve.
What You’ll Get
  • Competitive salary with annual bonus potential
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Multiple low-cost health plans
  • Paid time off (PTO) and company holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement and technical training
  • Relocation or travel assistance (depending on assignment)
Team-oriented culture with events, lunches, and company swag
