Job Description & How to Apply Below

The City of Beaverton is hiring a Police Records Specialist to support daily Police Department operations in Oregon's sixth largest city. Police Records Specialists process and maintain law enforcement records, provide first point of contact in person and over the phone for community members reporting stolen or lost items or people, and keep information moving quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.

The role balances customer service with detailed administrative work—responding to time-sensitive requests, updating records, coordinating with officers, and helping community members navigate what can often be stressful situations.

We’re looking for applicants who:

  • Enjoy a job where no two days are the same.
  • Thrive on working at a fast pace and don’t get overwhelmed by switching tasks or handling time-sensitive requests.
  • Are excited to work in a law enforcement environment and are committed to supporting public safety.
  • Understand how attention to detail directly impacts operations and prioritize accuracy in their work.
  • Bring a positive approach to customer service, stay composed under pressure, and can navigate challenging interactions with empathy and respect.
  • Can work with sensitive or difficult information while maintaining steady judgment and resilience.

The Beaverton Police Department Record Division operates 24 hours every day, 365 days a year. Records Support Specialists must be able to work day, mid-day, evening, and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Employees are compensated 8.6667 hours additional per month in lieu of holiday pay. Shifts are chosen by seniority after completion of probation. Shifts are chosen in the fall for the following year and rotate in January, May, and September.

A background investigation will be conducted prior to a job offer and the hiring process, will take several months.
