Global Sourcing Lead What You’ll Be Doing as a Sourced Product Manager
The Sourced Product Manager leads the strategy, development, and lifecycle performance of fully sourced products by identifying best‑fit suppliers, driving innovation through external partnerships, and ensuring products meet market requirements, quality, cost, and delivery targets. This role is highly entrepreneurial, requiring a blend of product knowledge, global sourcing acumen, supplier relationship management, and cross‑functional leadership. The ideal candidate has a strong sourcing of commercial products mindset, experience in the optics and electronics industry, and excels at identifying new opportunities that strengthen the company’s product portfolio and competitive advantage.
- Lead a team focused on sourced product and partner with Product Line Managers to support the strategic needs, help build business cases, and financial models to justify new product initiatives.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with suppliers, optimizing cost, delivery performance and quality.
- Serve as the primary interface between supplier partners and internal teams.
- Lead the team cross‑functionally to partner with Product Line Managers, Engineering and Manufacturing on strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize product performance, cost, quality, and lead time.
- Continually optimize and manage sourcing and procurement processes and systems.
- Negotiate, prepare, and review long‑term contracts with vendors and suppliers.
- Implement team metrics to assess costs of procurement and supplier performance and drive savings.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop team members. Provide training and work direction. Coach and provide performance feedback. Maintain a positive team environment.
- Lead the implementation of quality control, performance measurement and audit processes for current and new suppliers, in partnership with Quality.
- Ensure full compliance with local and federal regulations for import/export compliance where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or similar degree with 7-10+ years global sourcing experience in a manufacturing setting. MBA or similar post‑graduate degree a plus.
- Experience leading a team in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, strategic sourcing, purchasing, freight, and planning processes and best practices.
- Experience building in‑depth knowledge and a passion for product, preferably in the outdoor sports industry. Optics industry knowledge and a passion for hunting and shooting sports are a plus.
- Ability to build new and leverage existing sourcing relationships.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience negotiating with domestic and international suppliers.
- Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving, organization, communication, teamwork, mentoring and leadership skills.
- Collaborative partner with a strategic view, strong data gathering and problem‑solving skills, a flexible work style and a sense of urgency.
- Prior overseas work experience in sourcing, manufacturing, product development or similar function are a plus. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Some roles may require travel up to 50%, both domestically and internationally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and ERP systems.
Work is normally performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly sitting or standing, repeatedly required to talk or hear, reach with hands and arms, and use wrists and fingers. Frequent keyboarding. Lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the need to adjust focus.
May include occasional exposure to manufacturing environment including noise, chemicals, curing fluids, lubricants, moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, and fumes or airborne particles.
