Looking For

The Studio Lead Technical Designer is a pattern maker and sewing expert who is proactive, collaborative, safety‑minded, detail‑oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting. He/she shares expertise in pattern making, garment construction and studio equipment, collaborates with the Product Creation teams, is agile and thrives in a fluid creative environment, and travels for fast‑paced projects as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead patterning, sample making and fit execution for studio‑supported projects.
  • Identify and address key opportunities in pattern, construction and manufacturing to deliver against the project brief.
  • Track and facilitate project review meetings in partnership with OSS leadership.
  • Develop and lead studio‑based trainings and support events happening within the Apparel Maker Space.
  • Plan, maintain studio inventories, assets and assist with equipment use and upkeep.
  • Collaborate with Design, Product Management, PCC, materials and manufacturing to execute product development & fit goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in apparel design, textile science or related field (additional product creation experience may be considered).
  • 10+ years of pattern making or technical design experience in the apparel industry.
  • Expertise in pattern making, sewing and garment construction.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organization and communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting design intent, offering alternative solutions and acting as a technical resource.
  • Expertise in writing product specs and construction standards instructions.
  • Proficient working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D software (Clo/Browzwear) highly desired.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs.
  • Project lead and liaison for all/majority of studio‑supported projects.
  • Support team with SOP development.
  • Facilitate workshops and create/write programming for workshops.
  • Organize and schedule sewing machine maintenance.

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
