Lead Technical Apparel Designer
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Technical Apparel Designer to support an apparel standards organization within a product creation and technical design environment. This individual will serve as a hands‑on technical expert, bringing deep pattern‑making knowledge, strong construction skills, and the ability to work directly with physical garments in a fast‑paced, studio‑based setting. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail‑oriented, and comfortable balancing creative problem‑solving with technical precision.
This role is fully onsite in Beaverton, Oregon.
Lead Technical Apparel Designer Responsibilities- Lead advanced pattern making, sample creation, and fit execution across studio‑supported apparel projects.
- Physically construct garments using sewing and embroidery equipment, supporting hands‑on development and testing needs.
- Identify and resolve pattern, construction, and manufacturability challenges while delivering against project briefs.
- Partner cross‑functionally with design, product creation, materials, and manufacturing teams to support development and fit objectives.
- Plan, track, and facilitate project milestones and review sessions in collaboration with leadership.
- Serve as a technical resource by interpreting design intent and recommending construction or pattern alternatives.
- Develop and lead studio‑based trainings, workshops, and technical knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Support studio operations by assisting with inventory management, equipment usage, and maintenance coordination.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of technical standards, SOPs, and studio processes.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in apparel design, textile science, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of advanced pattern making experience within the apparel industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in sewing, embroidery, and garment construction, with comfort working hands‑on in a studio environment.
- Proficiency with digital pattern making and design tools, including Optitex, flat patterning methods, and Adobe applications.
- Strong understanding of the apparel development lifecycle, from concept through execution.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, creative setting.
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in product creation or technical design environments.
Up to $55/hr. (DOE)
