Financial Analyst, Financial Consultant, Risk Manager/Analyst
Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is seeking an analytical and strongly organized Senior Underwriting Analyst to work with our Employee Health & Benefits teams on assigned clients, providing and communicating complex financial analysis, and utilizing modeling tools to evaluate benefit programs and their impact on overall business objectives, including the management and control of client risks and losses.
What You'll Be Doing- Lead routine client engagements, managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, business placement, benchmarking, and other projects related to underwriting.
- Provide the definition of clients’ employee contribution modeling and strategies. Perform financial and risk analysis support for internal sales teams and their respective consulting clients.
- Research and remain up to date on the dynamic, competitive insurance environment, new and complex insurance projects, and constantly changing legislation that governs business.
- Responsible for the evaluation, determination and recommendation of alternative coverage, pricing options and plan design changes based on economic analysis of available plan elements related to client goals.
- Perform various reporting for plan change evaluations, budget and reserve calculations, and other on‑going reviews.
- Participate in prospective client data analysis and presentations.
- Take part in organizational initiatives and community involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- An analytical and detail‑oriented Employee Benefits professional with a demonstrated ability to lead client projects focused on health benefits strategies, financial projections and plan design optimization. You have a strong actuarial background and client‑facing experience.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuary, Mathematics and/or other related field is required or the equivalent work experience.
- 5‑7 years’ experience in the Benefits Brokerage, Consulting or Insurance industry.
- Advanced working knowledge in MS Excel is required (i.e. ability to perform pivot tables, macros and advanced formulas).
- 3+ years working on self‑funded medical clients.
- Ability to travel, up to 25‑50% in Washington and Oregon markets.
- Effective analytical, math and problem‑solving skills, sound judgement, strong decision‑making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skills.
- Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. The salary range for this position is $63,100–$117,500/year.
