Position OverviewThe Assistant Manager role supports the overall operations of a single restaurant. Assistant Managers must have open availability, work full‑time (35+ hours per week), and be scheduled to work shifts that complement the General Manager’s schedule (opposing days and shifts). They serve as the right hand to the General Manager and will participate in ongoing development training to foster internal growth.
Job Responsibilities- Recruit, train, and develop new and existing team members while adhering to training plans and procedures.
- Coordinate team meetings, including pre‑shift and safety committee meetings.
- Lead by example, fostering a “guest first” mindset and outstanding service.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including break laws, minor employment laws, safety policies, sick leave policies, and timekeeping.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive work environment free from harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Oversee compliance with all food safety regulations and restaurant safety procedures.
- Enforce policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain a safe and positive work environment.
- Ensure daily food safety standards and operational procedures are consistently met.
- Ensure all food is prepared fresh to order, following company recipes, and accurately record all items in the POS system.
- Manage labor costs and monitor staffing levels throughout the day to maximize profitability.
- Follow company policies and procedures for cash handling to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance with financial guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Serv Safe training & certificate.
- Prior experience with a POS system.
- 1‑2 years of hands‑on food or retail management experience.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Pass a background check, including criminal history and a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
- Maintain compliance with all required training as mandated by local, state, and federal laws and company policies.
- Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and all state required insurances.
- Maintain a working cell phone and effectively communicate via text, phone calls, and emails.
- Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Be a responsible team player, demonstrating punctuality, proper attire, and respect for others.
- Engage in hands‑on leadership with a strong focus on growth and development of people.
Physical Requirements
The work environment is fast‑paced, high‑energy, and dynamic, requiring the ability to multitask and remain organized under pressure. The role involves frequent interaction with customers, creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience. Flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, is required.
