RN 2 North 2959 - FT - 1611966

Description The 2 North unit is responsible for the treatment of patients requiring Medical and Surgical nursing care, initiating life saving procedures, providing emergency care for each patient as well as care to patients that require telemetry monitoring. The unit delivery of care includes assessment, problem identification, pre-operative assessment, pre and post-operative care, interventions, treatment and evaluation of actual, potential, or perceived physical or psychological problems.

Procedures or treatments provided on 2-North nursing unit include, but are not limited to:

• Admissions assessment
• Pre and post operative care
• Pre and post endoscopic care
• Post operative care pertaining to patients receiving general, spinal, or epidural anesthesia, local/MAC and local with sedation
• Medication administration
• IV therapy
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Post radiation treatments
• Pain control
• Pulse oximetry and O2 therapy
• Insertion of Foley catheters
• Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA)
• Blood warmers
• NG tube placement
• Tube feedings
• Assisting physician with insertion of chest tubes
• Abdominal paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Maintenance of CVP lines, PICC lines and Mediports
• Blood draws from CVP lines, PICC lines and Mediports
• Application and dressing changes
• Maintenance and care of critical drips (Heparin and KCL only)

• Graduate of a School of Nursing/College Nursing Education Program
• Current licensure by the West Virginia State Board of Nursing
• Pass pre-employment medication test with a score of 80% or better
