  • About the Opportunity

  • Assists in the development of menus in accordance with therapeutic nutrition guidelines.
  • Assesses patients’ nutritional status on admission and at least semi-annually; reviews monthly weights and follows up as required.
  • Completes texture modification assessments on referral; participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Addresses patients’ individual dietary concerns.
  • Develops and establishes policies and objectives consistent with those of the organization and department to ensure achievement of clinical goals.
  • Manages expenditures and works to ensure compliance with approved budget.
  • Collects and enters appropriate data into appropriate software to ensure patient diet types and any likes, dislikes and allergies are accurately recorded.
  • Oversee and plan special nutrition needs for special diets, allergies and disease conditions.
  • Monitors and documents progress of patients at high nutritional risk utilizing electronic health care record.
  • Documents responses to referrals appropriately in electronic healthcare record.
  • Providing leadership and overseeing provision of quality maintenance of food services.
  • Communicate with other Dietitians to assess patient information prior to admission both to and from the facility.
  • About You
    In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition/Dietetics with completion of approved Dietetic Internship
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the provision of clinical dietetic services
  • Proof of valid membership in the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics
  • Proof of valid Basic/Advanced Food Safety Certification is required
  • Training in dysphagia assessment and management is required
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of dietetics and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of nutritional problems and concerns of patient population.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic meal planning.
