DESCRIPTION:
The Shipper-Receiver & Bottle Preparation Technician is responsible for the accurate preparation, packing, and shipping of sample collection bottles and containers to Bureau Veritas clients in full compliance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and internal quality standards. This role encompasses a diverse range of logistics and laboratory support functions, including the treatment and safe disposal of samples, and pick-up and delivery services to clients and internal departments throughout the Bedford area.

Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
Label and/or dispense acid in bottles, when necessary, as per safety standardsCheck the accuracy of bottles sorted to the bottle orderPack bottles in coolers, ensuring sufficient packing materials and ice packs are provided as per Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) RegulationsEnsure the bottle order paperwork is included in the coolerSeal cooler with packaging tape and ensure it is safe for transportPlace all shipping labels on coolers as per TDG requirementsSeparate all coolers as per delivery requirementsEnsure all coolers are clean and in good conditionMaintain bottle prep area in a clean, safe and organized mannerEnsure safe and timely delivery of samples, orders and other materials to and from customersDispose of all types of lab samples and maintain recordsHeat-treat samples using an oven and maintain recordsChemically treat wastewater for disposalReceiving, labeling, packing, and shipping sample bottles and containersMaintain inventory of glassware, preservatives, and dispensing apparatusResearch shipping methods to find the most cost-effective and timely routesEnsure all samples and hazardous chemicals are shipped in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods legislationKeep records of all incoming and outgoing shipments of sample bottles and containersMaintain communication with personnel at other locations to ensure consistencyMeet quality and turnaround time specifications required by clientsProvide supervisor with updates on workstation status and any delaysFollow all procedures of the Bottle Preparation, Sample Disposal, Driving SOPs and Quality ControlBe proactive in the identification of problems, areas of opportunity and inform the appropriate person to act upon accordingly.Provide pick-up and delivery services for parcels, samples, mail and other materialsd as required.All other responsibilities as assigned-
QUALIFICATIONS [Minimum Requirements]:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma requiredExperience in a laboratory environment is considered an assetStrong computer skills (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel,Must possess a valid full driver’s license and have a good driving record (Copy of current drivers abstract from Ministry of Transportation is required).Excellent knowledge of the local areaKnowledge of WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods an assetBackground in shipping/receiving an assetAttributes:
