Your RoleWe are seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our Millipore Sigma Process Solutions Virus Filtration R&D team located at our Bedford, MA campus. As part of our R&D organization, in this role you will be responsible for research and development projects directed to the development of novel filtration technologies suitable for the manufacture of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals. You will work cross-functionally with teams that include R&D, Manufacturing, Product Management, Sales, Quality and Procurement to drive product ideas through development and validation phases to achieve successful commercialization.
This position may include domestic and international travel.
Who You AreMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or other Scientific or Engineering discipline and 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
OR
- Master’s Degree in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or other Scientific or Engineering discipline and 3+ years of experience in an engineering role
OR
- PhD in Applied Science, Chemical Engineering, or other Scientific or Engineering discipline and 1+ years of experience in an engineering role
- 2+ years of experience working in 3D CAD software
- 2+ years of experience with design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis methods
- 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory environment
- Creativity, knowledge, and skills to successfully execute on challenging projects, including a demonstrated ability to apply proven scientific and engineering principles on projects with high complexity and difficulty
- Demonstrated technical leadership and solved complicated technical problems
- New product development experience
- Fluent in Minitab or equivalent statistical software
- R&D or manufacturing experience in filtration device making
- Fluency in using CAD design software like Solid Works and/or Creo
- Basic understanding of intellectual property and patent filings
- Ability to develop and maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the‑art principles and theories through literature, conferences, and workshops
- Hands‑on problem solver, skilled in modern laboratory techniques and procedures
- Experience in conducting development and validation work
- Project management experience
- Good communication skills and a team player who works well with all levels throughout the organization
- Fluent in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Pay Range for this position: $80,400 - $140,300
The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job‑related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance‑based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
