Role OverviewWe are hiring an Electrical Engineer to join our R&D engineering team at Lexington Medical, Inc. in Bedford, MA (near Boston). The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience designing robust, high‑performance systems and collaborating across disciplines to bring complex devices to market.
This role is for someone who wants to create, improve, and lead. As an architect and innovator for electrical and embedded systems, you will help shape the device design and develop the processes to ensure our devices meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
We are open to candidates at varying experience levels and encourage those with less than 3 years of experience to apply.
Responsibilities- Lead design of embedded electrical systems for complex surgical devices.
- Select and integrate sensors, actuators, and other critical components for optimal performance and manufacturability.
- Architect high-performance, low-power electronics, including mixed-signal and microcontroller‑based systems.
- Define and improve best practices for documentation and design traceability.
- Design and develop PCBs (rigid, flex, and rigid-flex), motor control systems, and embedded systems.
- Drive design verification, validation, and automated testing of electrical assemblies and systems.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, product) to ensure system‑level integration and compliance.
- Support fielded products through well‑documented troubleshooting and design updates.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of full‑time professional experience in embedded systems hardware design, preferably in a regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of design documentation practices (e.g., DHF, risk, traceability, test protocols).
- Proficiency in schematic capture, board layout, mixed‑signal circuit design, and microcontroller‑based system development.
- Familiarity with FDA design control requirements and product lifecycle documentation.
- Experience supporting medical devices in the field.
- Knowledge of IEC 60601 and other relevant electrical/medical standards.
- Experience improving document management systems and change control processes.
- Self‑motivated, ambitious, and driven to innovate.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Bonus: FPGA design experience (VHDL/Verilog), simulation, synthesis, and timing optimization for medical or similarly high‑reliability systems.
Salary Range: $110,000 USD – $130,000 USD
