The position emphasizes network sustainment with operational responsibilities rather than design or coding.
Education & Certification RequirementsA bachelor's degree is required. Candidates should possess relevant network certifications, such as Juniper or Cisco, indicating proficiency in network operations and management.
Clearance RequirementsSecret clearance is required for access to sensitive devices and locations.
Onsite RequirementsThis role is a hybrid position based in Bedford, MA, requiring on-site presence for three days each week.
Responsibilities- Respond to and resolve network-related tickets escalated from the Service Desk team.
- Support patching, scanning, remediation, and maintenance activities for network infrastructure.
- Interface with team members and security liaisons to evaluate vulnerabilities and implement remediation plans.
- Configure, manage, and sustain network switch gear, routers, routing protocols, and cable infrastructure.
- Physically access network gear for operations such as patching, port, and cable management.
- Migrate, upgrade, or consolidate network links and equipment to remediate vulnerabilities.
- Determine appropriate OS versions and patches for Cisco and Juniper devices, and utilize tools to update configurations.
- Monitor network performance post-remediation to troubleshoot issues stemming from updates or changes.
- Leverage automation tools and CI/CD pipelines to deploy patches and upgrades efficiently.
- Develop documentation and audit artifacts to record remediation efforts and support compliance activities.
- Perform change support, customer support, and incident troubleshooting related to MITRE’s network infrastructure.
- Minimum of 5 years of network support experience.
- Hands‑on experience with TCP/IP V4 networking, including configuration and management of switches, routers, and cable infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Cisco and Juniper network devices and tools.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Familiarity with network OS patching, version management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience using automation tools and pipelines for deployment.
- U.S. citizenship is required to meet security and clearance requirements.
- Experience with network automation and Dev Ops tools.
- Knowledge of security vulnerability assessment and risk mitigation practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including scheduled maintenance windows at night.
- Familiarity with network change management and documentation standards.
