Data Analyst, Data Scientist
We are seeking a Logistics Analytics Lead to bring data-driven rigor to our DoD sustainment and logistics operations. In this role, you will lead high-impact analytic efforts by independently sourcing challenging data, driving actionable insights that directly support operational readiness, force projection, and sustainment strategies. You will operate with significant autonomy, making decisions, managing risk, and presenting findings to senior leadership in support of mission‑critical logistics planning.
Key Responsibilities- Data Acquisition & Management
- Proactively identify, obtain, and integrate logistics data from DoD systems (including legacy or restricted repositories), commercial providers, and third‑party sources.
- Negotiate data access, design ETL pipelines, and enforce data quality and integrity protocols aligned with DoD standards.
- Maintain and oversee databases (relational and non-relational), ensuring data is clean, auditable, and optimized for analysis.
- Statistical & Operations Research Analysis
- Apply statistical techniques (regression, Bayesian inference, time series, hypothesis testing) and operations research (optimization, linear programming, queuing theory) to logistics problems.
- Conduct quantitative studies to evaluate readiness, resource allocation, and sustainment risk, developing recommendations to inform strategy.
- Independent Leadership & Decision-Making
- Lead analytic projects from conception to delivery with minimal oversight: define problem statements, set objectives, make data-driven decisions, and drive execution.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively, find creative solutions, and take ownership of outcomes.
- Communicate key insights, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders and logistics leadership.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare and deliver briefings, technical reports, and visualizations for non-technical and technical audiences (e.g., senior leaders, planners, logistics operators).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with acquisition, maintenance, planning, and operations teams to integrate analytic insights into logistics policies and practices.
- Document assumptions, methods, limitations, and model validation procedures in accordance with DoD reporting standards.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in analytics, or operations research in a DoD or defense‑contractor environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently source and integrate data – including from restricted or legacy systems.
- Strong database skills (e.g., SQL, No
SQL), with experience designing, querying, and optimizing data stores. - Deep expertise in statistical analysis (regression, Bayesian, time‑series) and OR methods (optimization, queuing, decision analysis).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, high initiative, and an ability to make decisions in uncertain, mission-critical environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience presenting complex quantitative insights to senior leadership.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have an active Top Secret DoD security clearance.
