Responsibilities- Administrate and manage the Trade Compliance team by planning, leading, implementing, improving, and reviewing corporate initiatives as directed by the General Counsel.
- Develop and promote strategic initiatives in collaboration with the General Counsel by leading and implementing projects on a global level.
- Training Program Support: maintain training materials in the Global Learning Center, schedule training sessions and maintain the training calendar, keep the training catalogue up to date, and manage training metrics.
- Customs Support: maintain regional import and drawback bonds, maintain powers of attorney, perform trade account owner duties in ACE, manage collection/maintenance of business unit brokerage SOPs and FPPI/WA docs.
- Overall ITC Program support: develop and implement Emerson standards, facilitate import/export activities, site visits and audits, provide compliance guidance to divisions in escalated issues, manage third party/restricted party screening.
- Oversee special export compliance programs (e.g., Embargoes and Sanctions, ITAR, Technology, Software/Encryption, Cloud Computing, Nuclear, Classifications, Deemed and Routed Exports).
- Oversee special import compliance programs (e.g., Free Trade Agreements, Bonded Operations, Royalties, Drawback/Suspension, Paperless Clearances, Classifications and Valuation).
- Oversee supply chain security compliance programs (C-TPAT, AEO, PIP).
- Participate on cross-functional teams (e.g., brokerage mode team).
- Collect and use data from the team to monitor progress and present results to Senior Management to address deficiencies.
- Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development to support the legal team.
- Establish and implement a communication strategy with project stakeholders.
- Manage support resources to ensure systems are monitored and performing; escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain collaborative working relationships and assist in project development and pursuits.
- Lead and coordinate administrative functions to publish and deliver training programs.
- Ensure system implementations satisfy internal controls requirements.
- May coach team members in management and development; drive team building and culture change; resolve complex challenges proactively.
- Identify and advance strategic improvement opportunities and other tasks as assigned.
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience
- 3-5 years of direct people leader experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree required
- Ability to navigate and interpret import/export laws and regulations, and willingness to learn
- Paralegal certificate, advanced degree, or equivalent preferred
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Excellent oral and written English skills
- Comfortable working with senior management
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail
