Description
NFI is looking for a skilled conventional Die Cutter/Zund router cutter operator able to work in a fast paced precision oriented print shop environment.
What You’ll Do- Read and interpret Job Tickets and mechanical drawings to verify specifications and identify discrepancies.
- Review job requirements including page sequence, sheet size, and cutting specs.
- Measure stock and enter precise fractional cut positions into the cutter program.
- Set up and operate the cutter according to job requirements.
- Load sheets onto the cutter bed; jog and align stock accurately.
- Operate the cutter using required safety controls.
- Inspect cut material for accuracy and adjust machine settings as needed.
- Troubleshoot minor cutting or alignment issues to maintain quality and reduce downtime.
- Remove finished material and stack neatly on pallets for the next operation or shipment.
- Record job details using load tags, data systems, and time sheets.
- Perform routine cutter maintenance, including blade changes and lubrication.
- Keep your workstation clean and follow all safety policies.
- Meet daily production goals with a consistent sense of urgency.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers; elevate unresolved issues appropriately.
- Step in to support the team and assist on other bindery/production equipment when needed.
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous machine operator experience (print industry a plus).
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read a ruler/caliper and work confidently with fractional measurements.
- Strong hand–eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Comfortable with basic math and precise measuring.
- Basic computer comfort for entering programs and logging job data.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent work ethic.
- Comfortable working around printing equipment, paper dust, and moderate-to-loud noise.
- Team-first mindset with a willingness to help out where needed.
- Ability to work overtime during peak production periods.
- Experience operating guillotine/paper cutters (Polar, Triumph, etc.).
- Previous bindery, finishing, or print production experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment or programming issues.
- Familiarity with job tickets, load tags, and shop-floor data systems.
- A skills assessment may be administered during the interview process.
$22.52-$36.20 per hour
