Overview

Join VHB’s expanding Water Resources team as a Water Resources Engineer and make a significant impact! We’re seeking a skilled professional to collaborate with our expert team on cutting‑edge projects in hydrology and hydraulics analysis, culvert and bridge design, stream restoration, stormwater management, and resiliency efforts. You’ll play a key role in delivering innovative, cost‑effective solutions that drive sustainable development in water resources, ecological restoration, transportation, and environmental projects.

Responsibilities
  • Lead tasks under the supervision of the project manager on multi-disciplinary projects with hydrologic, hydraulic or stormwater design including interaction with staff and clients
  • Develop 1‑D and 2‑D hydraulic models for project analysis and design
  • Prepare and review stormwater management and stream restoration design drawings and specifications
  • Prepare technical reports, plans and specifications
  • Develop project proposals, scopes of work and fee estimates
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with them
  • Mentor junior staff in both technical and professional aspects
  • Responsible for project task management including task financial performance
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil/Environmental/Water Resources engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3‑5 years professional experience in water resources engineering and analysis experience
  • Experience preparing design plans & specifications, and preparing technical reports
  • Experience with task management
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling preferred
  • Experience with geomorphic evaluation and stream simulation design
  • EIT preferred
  • Proficiency with relevant software including HEC‑RAS, Hydro

    CAD, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Microsoft Word and Excel
