Landscape Crew Member

A Landscape Crew Member is responsible for assisting the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape plans. Some Landscape Crew Members may specialize in either enhancement or maintenance work, but all should be willing and able to perform either type of work at the discretion of their supervisor. As a Landscape Crew Member at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:

• Assist the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape enhancement plans as instructed by the supervisor.
• Operate equipment including commercial zero‑turn riding mowers, brake‑controlled walk‑behind mowers, line trimmers, blowers, etc.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Pick up trash and debris, as needed.
• Plant, lay sod, trim, prune as the job requires.
• Complete hardscape projects and outdoor lighting, as needed.
• Complete landscape and lawn installations, as needed.
• Perform any tasks related to lawn and landscape maintenance operations.
• Safely use various equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, sod cutters, bush hogs, brick saws, transits, and various hand tools.
• Perform snow removal in the winter months.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

• Availability to work a varied schedule including Saturdays, as needed.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold.
• Basic understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance.
• Ability to identify plants (preferred).
• Ability to read and follow landscape plans.

• Valid driver’s license is preferred; acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standard.
• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently.
• High school diploma or GED, preferred.
• Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment.

Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed. Schedules may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. During the snow season, work may include nighttime, weekends, and holidays for snow‑removal activities. The position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
