SUMMARY
Assists the Pool Manager personally or through subordinates regarding public swimming pool operations, maintenance and sanitation in accordance with municipal rules and procedures by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervises Lifeguards. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include selecting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recommending employee rewards and discipline; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma / GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust possess an American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.
Desirable:
Certified Pool and Spa Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator, and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor.
Must possess a basic knowledge of swimming pool chemical analysis and adjustment, preferably through personal computer programs. Must possess a demonstrated physical fitness as required for extended or strenuous swimming and lifeguard activities.
