An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join its friendly and professional team. This is a varied role supporting a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies. The successful candidate will ideally be based 3 days per week in Bedford, 1 day in Huntingdon and 1 day in St Neots, with occasional travel to client premises where required.

• Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
• Preparing sales and purchase ledgers and completing bank reconciliations
• Preparing monthly and quarterly VAT returns
• Visiting client premises to set up and maintain computerised bookkeeping systems
• Providing training and support to clients using bookkeeping software
• Processing statutory payments
• Processing CIS data
• Providing technical support to colleagues where required

• Previous experience in a bookkeeping role within an accountancy practice or similar environment
• Strong working knowledge of cloud-based bookkeeping software, including Xero, Quick Books Online and Sage
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• A professional and personable manner
