Overview
The De Parys Group Surgeries are seeking a motivated and organised Non‑Clinical Administration Apprentice to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is customer focused, has strong attention to detail and is looking to build a strong foundation for a career in business administration.
About the EmployerThe De Parys Group Surgeries operate across four clinical sites in Bedford – Cauldwell Medical Centre, Enhanced Service Centre Kimbolton Road, and Bromham Surgery. Their administrative hub is based in De Parys Avenue. They serve a patient list of 46,000 and are responsible for 22 residential and care homes, with dispensaries at the Enhanced Service Centre and Bromham sites.
ResponsibilitiesThis apprenticeship provides experience across four different non‑clinical teams, introducing a broad range of roles that support General Practice. You will develop practical skills in reception, patient communication, appointment management, referrals, administration, scanning, and clinic. The role involves working shifts between 8.00am and 6.30pm, across all four teams, performing basic functions in each:
- Patient Access (PACS): first point of contact, booking appointments, answering calls, supporting reception, directing patients.
- Medical Secretaries: arranging referrals to hospitals and community services, learning referral prioritisation and documentation.
- Administration: registering patients, processing correspondence, scanning documents, clinical coding.
- Patient Services Care Coordination: assisting patients needing additional care, such as care home residents, urgent cancer referrals, and private medical work.
Upon successful completion, you will be well‑placed to apply for permanent vacancies within the organisation, including reception, administration, medical secretary, and patient services roles. Skills gained are transferable to a wide range of NHS and primary care administrative roles.

Working Week:
Monday to Friday, 37.5hours per week, 8.00am to 6.30pm. Working pattern varies by team; rotas will be shared in advance. All breaks are paid.
