Role: Data Protection Administrator

Location: Can be any campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £25,585 and £30,915 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 18.5 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Data Protection Administrator to join us at The Bedford College Group.

As a Data Protection Administrator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Data Protection Administration & Information Rights - Support the management of Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and other information rights requests by logging, tracking, redacting documents, gathering information, and ensuring responses meet statutory deadlines.
  • Compliance Monitoring & Records Management - Maintain compliance records, performance data, registers, trackers, Records of Processing Activities (ROPA), and documentation relating to DPIAs, incidents, training, and data protection activities.
  • Data Protection Risk & Incident Support - Assist with the administration of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), data breach investigations, incident reporting, follow-up actions, and continuous monitoring of compliance requirements.
  • Training, Awareness & Documentation - Support the development and delivery of training materials, maintain intranet resources, promote awareness of data protection responsibilities, and assist with policy, procedure, and document management.
  • Professionalism, Compliance & Continuous Improvement - Contribute to ongoing compliance improvement initiatives, support third-party assurance activities, and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety, and professional development responsibilities.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Professional Development - GCSE English and Maths (A-C or equivalent) with evidence of continuing professional development, a commitment to learning new skills, and the flexibility to travel across campuses and adapt working hours to business needs.
  • Data Protection & Compliance Knowledge - Good understanding of data protection principles, experience handling sensitive and confidential information, and the ability to support compliance-related activities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Administrative & Technical Skills - Strong administrative and organisational skills, with experience providing administrative support and proficiency in Excel and business intelligence tools such as Power BI for reporting and data management.
  • Communication & Work Management - Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism & Personal Attributes - Trustworthy, reliable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and contribute positively to continuous improvement and team objectives.
