Contract Management Lead / Category Management Lead (Transformation)

Location: Bedfordshire

Rates: £500 to £600 per day

Contract: Interim / Contract

Start Date: Immediate

We are seeking an experienced Contract Management Lead or Category Management Lead to support a major transformation programme within a public sector organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished commercial professional with extensive experience of delivering procurement, contract management and category management improvements while embedding sustainable, long-term change across complex organisations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead strategic commercial transformation initiatives.
  • Deliver improved commercial outcomes through effective governance, process assurance and knowledge transfer.
  • Design and implement contract management strategies, methodologies and frameworks across the organisation.
  • Develop and embed category management methodologies to identify both immediate and long-term savings opportunities.
  • Deliver training, coaching and mentoring programmes to build internal capability.
  • Implement contract segmentation models, including gold, silver and bronze classifications, and establish appropriate management frameworks for each category.
  • Design and introduce standardised templates, guidance documents and processes to ensure consistency across teams.
  • Work closely with procurement teams and senior stakeholders to embed lasting improvements.

Essential skills and experience

  • Proven experience leading commercial transformation programmes.
  • Strong background in public sector procurement, contract management and category management.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering sustainable improvements and embedding organisational change.
  • Expertise in strategic sourcing, governance and commercial best practice.
  • Experience designing and delivering training and mentoring programmes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
