Quantity Surveyor - Subcontractor / Manufacturer

Location:

Bedford

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum + package

The Role:

Quantity Surveyor

A hands‑on, varied position suited to an experienced QS confident managing commercial duties within a specialist construction and manufacturing environment. Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of full quantity surveying functions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts
  • Lead valuations, applications for payment and variations
  • Manage additional works, notices, payment queries and commercial correspondence
  • Review payment notices and ensure compliance with contractual timelines
  • Support tendering and procurement activities
  • Produce commercial reports and maintain accurate project records
  • Manage final accounts and oversee project close‑out
  • Provide wider commercial support to the Commercial Manager as required
The Right Person
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in Quantity Surveying (construction or manufacturing)
  • Confident preparing applications for payment, valuations and managing variations
  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Must be eligible for SC Clearance (clean criminal record required)
  • Detail‑focused, proactive and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
