Town Planner

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

An established and growing private sector planning consultancy in Bedford is looking for an enthusiastic Town Planner to join its expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to develop their career within a commercially focused consultancy, working on a varied portfolio of projects across residential, commercial and mixed-use development.

You will have the opportunity to take responsibility for your own projects while working alongside experienced planning professionals and advising clients throughout the development process.

• Preparing and submitting planning applications and associated documents.
• Providing planning advice to private and public sector clients.
• Undertaking planning appraisals and development potential assessments.
• Researching planning policy and interpreting national and local planning guidance.
• Managing planning applications and liaising with local planning authorities.
• Attending client meetings, site visits and planning committees where appropriate.
• Supporting the preparation of planning statements, appeals and other planning documents.
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and planning officers.
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of the consultancy.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, commercially aware and keen to progress within the private sector.

Ideally, you will have:

• A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Relevant planning experience, ideally within a consultancy or local authority environment.
• Good knowledge of the UK planning system and development management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
• The confidence to communicate with clients and other professional stakeholders.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

RTPI membership or progress towards chartership would be advantageous
, although candidates with the right experience and potential will also be considered.
