Location

Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary and Benefits

Hours / Weeks

37 hours per week – 40 weeks per year

Contract Type

Permanent – Term Time (UK based contract). Right to work in the UK required; no sponsorship.

About the role
  • Role Purpose – Ensure students with SEND receive tailored support through individual plans, mentoring, and inclusive classroom practices that promote confidence and independence.
  • Support Planning – Create and share individual support plans, review strategies with students, and guide curriculum teams on effective SEND approaches.
  • Student & Staff Engagement – Mentor students, provide advice and guidance on additional support services, and build strong professional relationships within the College.
  • Quality & Compliance – Conduct classroom observations to monitor implementation, maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of SEND processes, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Statutory Duties – Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and health & safety; actively participate in training and development to uphold professional standards.
About you
  • Qualifications – Level 2 in Maths and English; relevant Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Knowledge & Experience – Strong understanding of SEND Code of Practice (2014), safeguarding, equality and diversity; experience supporting young people with SEND in FE settings and liaising with curriculum teams and external agencies.
  • Technical Skills – Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT systems; ability to produce professional reports and support plans; understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Core Competencies – Excellent communication (verbal and written), organisational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Values & Attributes – Positive and adaptable attitude; commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries; willingness to work across sites, travel as required and maintain continuous professional development.
