Location: Bedford College - Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £26,754 per annum (Pro‑Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours a week - 37 weeks a year

As a Teaching Assistant you will be supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities accessing courses across the college from level one to level three. It is an exciting role where no two days are the same! One day you may be note taking within a level three engineering lesson, the next providing prompts and reassurance to a student within a hairdressing salon.
As a Teaching Assistant within the team you will be well supported and have excellent staff development opportunities to continually update and develop your own professional practice.

Responsibilities- Student Support – Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to students with SEND across vocational and academic courses, promoting independence and helping them access learning effectively.
- Collaboration & Implementation – Work under the direction of the ALS Team Leader and class teachers to implement strategies from individual support plans and contribute to EHCP outcome monitoring.
- Resource & Record Management – Prepare and maintain learning resources, update support documentation, and contribute to reports, reviews, and learner records as required.
- Team Contribution & Events – Actively participate in ALS team meetings, mentor new staff, and support students during work placements, trips, and college events such as open days and transitions.
- Compliance & Development – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety standards, while engaging in ongoing training and development to enhance effectiveness in the role.
- Qualifications & Experience – Educated to Level 2 in English and Maths, with a relevant Level 3 qualification (or willingness to work toward it), and experience supporting young people with SEND in educational or care settings.
- Knowledge & Skills – Working knowledge of SEND, confident using Microsoft Office, and able to maintain accurate records while contributing to a high‑quality, inclusive learning environment.
- Teamwork & Communication – Strong communication skills across various formats, able to work independently and collaboratively, and contribute positively to team dynamics and college reputation.
- Professionalism & Values – Demonstrates a positive, adaptable attitude, respects professional boundaries, and aligns with the college's values, including safeguarding and equality.
- Flexibility & Commitment – Willing to work across all college sites, continuously update skills and knowledge, and respond appropriately to the needs of students and the wider college community.
