This role offers the chance to lead, support, and inspire young learners across the school.

About

the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide targeted classroom support across Key Stage 1 and/or 2
  • Take responsibility for leading small group interventions and occasionally delivering whole‑class lessons under teacher direction
  • Support teachers with planning, preparation, and assessment activities
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where all pupils can thrive
  • Use initiative to manage behaviour, support learning, and adapt to the needs of individual pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to support academic and social development
  • Uphold school safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety procedures at all times

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold HLTA status or demonstrate equivalent experience and readiness to lead learning
  • Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum and a passion for working with children
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and confident managing classroom responsibilities
  • Be committed to supporting pupil wellbeing and progress, both academically and socially
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and work well within a team
  • Be resilient, positive, and ready to make a meaningful contribution to school life
