Role: Teacher – Criminology

Location: The Bedford Sixth Form

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Note: Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 30 hours per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term – Part Time – Fixed until 26 June 2026

The Role

We are currently seeking a Teacher in Criminology to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities
  • Engaging Teaching & Learning Delivery – Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills and understanding while motivating them to achieve their full potential.
  • Assessment, Feedback & Progress Tracking – Provide timely assessments, clear feedback and accurate progress records to support improvement, contributing to strong retention and success outcomes.
  • Curriculum Development & Enrichment – Take an active role in curriculum development and organise subject‑related enrichment such as trips, visits and external speakers to enhance the Sixth Form experience.
  • Professional Duties & Communication – Participate in performance review and staff development, produce written reports, attend parents’ evenings, promote the Sixth Form at events and uphold departmental Health & Safety.
  • College‑Wide Responsibilities & Compliance – Support cross‑college activities including s, invigilation and open days, while maintaining high standards of safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and ongoing professional development.
About You
  • Qualifications & Teaching Credentials – Degree in a relevant subject, Certificate in Education (or equivalent), GCSE‑level English and Maths, with current experience teaching A‑Level in a Sixth Form or FE environment.
  • Subject Knowledge & Pedagogical Expertise – Up‑to‑date understanding of syllabus content, teaching methods and ILT‑enhanced delivery, with a strong record of high‑quality teaching and successful learner outcomes.
  • Inclusive, Supportive & Learner‑Centred Practice – Able to create a welcoming, supportive environment, promote equality and diversity, maintain high standards, and consistently deliver outstanding learning experiences.
  • Professional Skills, Communication & Teamwork – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisation, accuracy, adaptability and resilience, with the ability to work independently, collaboratively and with multiple stakeholders.
  • Safeguarding, Values & Continuous Development – Committed to safeguarding, personal integrity, continuous professional development and working in line with TBCG values, with flexibility to work across locations and adapt to changing demands.
