About the RoleWe are currently seeking an ALS Advisor to join our Foundation Learning & Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities- SEND Support Planning & Review – Develop and implement individual support plans for students with SEND, regularly reviewing and adapting strategies to ensure effective outcomes.
- Staff Guidance & Inclusive Practice – Advise and support curriculum staff on SEND needs and inclusive strategies, ensuring consistent and effective classroom implementation.
- Student Mentoring & Development – Provide targeted mentoring and guidance to students, building confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
- Quality Monitoring & Collaboration – Conduct classroom observations, build strong relationships with staff and students, and promote continuous improvement in inclusive practice.
- Promotion & Compliance – Represent the College at events, maintain knowledge of SEND processes, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and professional development standards.
- Qualifications & Knowledge – Level 2 Maths and English with a relevant Level 3 qualification (or willingness) and strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, and post‑16 education.
- SEND & Educational Experience – Experience supporting young people with a range of additional needs in educational settings, including working with curriculum teams and external agencies.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills – Strong ability to communicate with students, staff, parents, and external partners, building positive relationships and delivering clear guidance and support.
- Organisation & Technical Skills – Highly organised with strong IT and administrative skills, able to produce professional reports, manage workloads, and maintain confidentiality and data protection.
- Professionalism & Flexibility – Positive, adaptable approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, travel across sites, and uphold safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries.
