Engineering Technician

We’re recruiting on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business for an Engineering Technician to join their growing team in Bedford. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a modern engineering environment, supporting the testing, development and continuous improvement of innovative electronic products.

This role would suit someone with experience within electronics, manufacturing, product testing or a technical laboratory environment who enjoys hands‑on engineering and problem solving.

• Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance of testing equipment.
• Prepare products and samples for testing.
• Perform electrical, thermal and mechanical reliability testing.
• Inspect products using microscopes to identify faults and defects.
• Build and maintain test boards and fixtures.
• Edit and maintain automated test programmes.
• Record and analyse test results using Excel and engineering documentation systems.
• Maintain accurate records and traceability of test samples.
• Support engineering teams with product development and continuous improvement.
• Ensure high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety are maintained.

• Previous experience within an engineering, electronics or manufacturing environment.
• Experience of product testing or laboratory testing would be beneficial.
• Soldering experience or the ability to build test fixtures.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong practical skills.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
