Mechanical Systems Engineer

Bedford | Onsite | Security Clearance Required

A specialist defence engineering business is looking for a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to support and improve complex industrial plant and machinery.

This is not a product-design role. The focus is heavy mechanical systems, plant reliability and engineering ownership across refurbishment, upgrades and new equipment.

The work includes:

• Rotating machinery such as turbines, motors, shafts, pulleys and conveyors
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Compressors, cooling systems and heat pumps
• Plant refurbishment and component replacement
• Fault investigation, maintenance strategy and continuous improvement
• Supporting procurement, installation, commissioning and acceptance

You’ll ideally bring:

• Mechanical engineering experience from heavy industry, utilities, power generation or process plant
• Strong knowledge of rotating machinery
• Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems
• Confidence working with legacy equipment and complex plant
• The ability to take engineering problems from diagnosis through to delivery

This is ideal for someone who prefers machinery, plant and real-world engineering over designing isolated products.

Bedford-based and fully onsite. Applicants must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
