Legal Cashier

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join their established finance team in Bedford, Bedfordshire.

This is a key position responsible for delivering high-quality legal cashiering support while ensuring full compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules.

The successful candidate will manage day-to-day cashiering duties and provide essential cover for telegraphic transfers and payroll when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Posting receipts, payments, transfers and disbursements to client and office ledgers

• Managing daily banking processes and reconciliations

• Ensuring proper segregation of client and office monies

• Processing telegraphic transfers, including high-value and time-sensitive completion payments

• Monitoring ledger balances and resolving fee earner queries

• Assisting with month-end procedures and compliance reporting

• Supporting internal and external audit requirements

• Providing payroll cover during periods of absence

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ legal cashiering experience within a law firm

• Strong working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules

• Experience processing T/Ts in a legal environment

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Strong Excel skills and confidence using legal accounting systems

• Organised, reliable and able to work independently
