Role Description The Protection Advisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Kempston, providing face-to-face financial protection advice to individual clients. In this role, the advisor meets with prospective and existing clients to assess their needs, explain suitable protection products, and recommend tailored solutions such as life, critical illness, accident, and income protection. Daily responsibilities include conducting thorough fact-finds, preparing and presenting recommendations, completing and submitting applications, and following up to ensure policies are set up correctly.
The advisor also maintains accurate client records, adheres to regulatory and company compliance standards, and keeps up to date with product changes and market developments. Building and managing a personal client portfolio, fostering long-term relationships, and participating in local business development activities are key aspects of the position.
Qualifications
- Strong client-facing skills, including clear communication, active listening, and the ability to explain complex financial concepts in an accessible way.
- Proven ability to build trust, maintain professional relationships, and deliver personalised advice in a face-to-face environment.
- Interest in financial services and protection products, with the ability to learn and apply product knowledge across life, illness, accident, and income protection.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, record-keeping, and completion of applications within regulatory and company guidelines.
- Good organizational and time management skills to manage appointments, follow-ups, and a growing client base effectively.
- Comfort working within compliance frameworks and following structured advice processes, with a commitment to ethical, needs-based recommendations.
- Ability to work independently on-site while collaborating with colleagues, mortgage teams, and specialist partners when needed.
- Relevant experience in financial advice, insurance, or customer-facing roles is beneficial; industry qualifications (e.g., UK protection or mortgage advice certifications) are an advantage.
- Basic IT skills for using advisory tools, CRM systems, and digital communication platforms.
