Environmental Health Officer; Renters Rights

We are recruiting to a new Renters Rights Environmental Health Officer role as part of our response to the Renters Rights Act.

• Protect tenants and improve standards in the private rented sector by investigating alleged breaches of landlord and tenant legislation, including unlawful eviction, harassment, discrimination and unfair rent practices.
• Manage your own caseload, undertake investigations, gather evidence, support enforcement action and engage with tenants and landlords to resolve issues early.
• Work closely with colleagues across Housing, Environmental Health and Legal Services teams.

• Experience of investigating complaints and managing casework.
• Good knowledge of housing and landlord/tenant legislation, particularly the Renters Rights Act.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to gather and assess evidence and prepare case files.
• Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and partner services.
• Commitment to supporting residents and delivering fair outcomes.
