Assistant Town Planner | St Neots | £28,000-£35,000

Penguin is proud to be working with a leading multidisciplinary property and consultancy business on an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Town Planner to join their established planning team based in St Neots.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious planning professional looking to develop their career within a supportive consultancy environment, working across a varied portfolio of planning and development projects.

The Role

You'll work alongside experienced planners and professionals, supporting projects from initial appraisals through to planning applications and delivery.

You'll have the opportunity to:

Assist with planning appraisals for land, buildings and development opportunities.

Undertake planning research and analysis.

Prepare and support planning applications, pre-application enquiries and appeals.

Assist with the preparation of planning statements and Design & Access Statements.

Liaise with clients, local planning authorities and other professional consultants.

Support the team with development management and strategic planning projects.

Attend meetings, site visits and planning committees where required.

Develop your understanding of planning policy and legislation.

Work towards professional development and MRTPI accreditation with support from an experienced team.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

A relevant degree in Town Planning, Geography or a related discipline.

Some previous experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related environment is desirable.

A good understanding of the UK planning system and current planning policy.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent research, analytical and organisational abilities.

A proactive and commercially aware approach.

The ability to work collaboratively while managing your own workload.

A genuine ambition to develop a long-term career in town planning.
