Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,552 and £26,754 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

We are currently seeking a Technician in Electrical Installation to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Electrical Workshop & Teaching Support - Provide practical support to Lecturers, Trainers and learners within Electrical Installation and wider Construction workshops, preparing work areas and resources to support successful qualification achievement.
• Tools, Equipment & Stock Management - Maintain, service and repair tools and equipment, manage stock inventories and consumables, oversee equipment sign-in/out systems, process orders, and monitor expenditure against agreed budgets.
• Workshop Safety & Compliance - Maintain clean, safe and hazard-free workshop environments, ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations, undertake risk and COSHH assessments, and support day-to-day site and equipment security.
• Learner Support & College Engagement - Provide guidance to learners, manage student conduct appropriately, manufacture teaching aids where required, and contribute to marketing, engagement and wider Construction activities.
• Safeguarding & Professional Standards - Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, and continuous professional development while working in accordance with College policies and procedures.

• Construction Qualifications & Electrical Experience - Holds a Level 2 NVQ/Diploma in a construction trade, with practical experience in the electrical industry and English and Maths at Level 2 or a willingness to achieve these qualifications.
• Technical & Workshop Skills - Experienced in preparing, maintaining and repairing tools and equipment, managing stock inventories, and applying safe working practices relating to electrical equipment and wider construction activities.
• Learner Support & Teamwork - Committed to providing a high-quality learning experience, working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, and making a positive contribution to the team while respecting colleagues’ expertise.
• Communication, Professionalism & College Values - Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, communicates confidently in person, by telephone and in writing, and demonstrates Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness and Honesty.
