Hours:
Monday-Friday 08:00-17:00 Our client is looking for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their hazardous waste operation. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high compliance standards, and driving continuous improvement across the business. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10 employees and play a key role in ensuring operational targets, safety standards, and customer expectations are consistently achieved and improved upon.
Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of hazardous waste collection, processing, and disposal Ensure full compliance with environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements Manage and support operational staff, drivers, and site personnel Develop, implement, and maintain safe working procedures Monitor operational performance, productivity, and associated costs Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions where required Coordinate maintenance schedules for vehicles, plant equipment, and facilities Manage operational scheduling and customer service issues Liaise with regulators, contractors, customers, and internal technical sales teams Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting activities Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational development Requirements Previous experience within waste management, environmental services, logistics, or industrial operations Strong leadership and people management skills Experience managing operational teams in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations Excellent communication and organisational skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Competent using Microsoft Office and operational management systems Experience working with hazardous materials and regulatory compliance is highly desirable Qualifications Industry-related qualifications such as WAMITAB and/or NEBOSH essential Working Conditions Primarily site-based with occasional office duties Flexibility to support emergency response and occasional out-of-hours requirements when necessary Whats on Offer Salary up to £45,000 per annum Opportunity to join a growing and essential industry A leadership role with real autonomy and the opportunity to make improvements Long-term career progression opportunities If you are an experienced Operations Manager looking for your next challenge within a highly regulated operational environment, we would like to hear from you.
