CNC Turner Programmer
Location:
Near Milton Keynes
Hours:
Monday to Friday 7.30am – 4pm (overtime available)
Salary: £38000 - £45000
Role OverviewThe CNC Turner Programmer will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating sliding head lathes and fixed head CNC turning centres to produce precision‑engineered components to tight tolerances. You will work across our wide range of Star, Citizen, Mori‑Seki, SMEC, Miyano, and DMC machines, programming with Fanuc and similar controls.

- Program, set, and operate sliding head and fixed head CNC lathes.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies for efficient production.
- Produce precision components to tight tolerances and within quality standards.
- Carry out first‑off inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Optimise CNC programs and setups to improve cycle times and reduce waste.
- Work collaboratively with production staff to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Proven experience programming and setting sliding head lathes (Star / Citizen).
- Experience with fixed head CNC turning centres (Mori‑Seki, SMEC, Miyano, DMC).
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls (or similar).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Experience producing small to medium batch quantities.
- High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience across multi‑axis CNC lathes.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (Edgecam, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
