An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Planner (Research & Analysis) to join a leading multidisciplinary planning consultancy, working within a specialist team that sits at the heart of strategic planning and evidence-based decision making.
This is a fantastic role for a graduate or early-career planner, economist or geographer looking to build a career in the analytical and strategic side of planning.
The OpportunityYou will join a highly regarded Research & Analysis team
, supporting planning applications, appeals, land promotion and Local Plan work across the UK.
This role offers exposure to a wide range of projects across both the private and public sectors
, working alongside planning, urban design, transport and environmental specialists.
Your work will focus on:
- Supporting planning applications and appeals with robust evidence
- Producing housing land supply and housing need assessments
- Analysing employment land demand and economic impacts
- Contributing to Local Plan Examinations and planning inquiries
- Undertaking demographic, socio-economic and market analysis
- Preparing clear, concise and commercially focused reports
You will play a key role in shaping the evidence behind major planning decisions — making this a highly influential and rewarding position.
About YouThis role is ideal for someone with strong analytical capability and a genuine interest in the strategic side of planning and development.
You will likely have:
- A degree in Town Planning, Economics, Geography or a related discipline
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills
- A high level of attention to detail
- An interest in planning policy, housing delivery and economic growth
Experience with in planning or research (through study or work) is beneficial but not essential.
Desirable:
- Experience with GIS or data modelling tools
- Understanding of UK planning policy and processes
- Exposure to socio-economic research or evidence-based planning
- Competitive salary around £28,000 - £30,000
