Supporting Young Lives Through Understanding and Care

At Paragon Social Care, we provide round-the-clock support to children and young people in local authority care, particularly during times of crisis, transition, and uncertainty. Our work is built around creating safe, stable environments where young people can begin to rebuild trust, develop resilience, and move towards positive outcomes.

We are currently recruiting Children’s Support Workers across Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire to join our growing team.

The Role

This is a rewarding but demanding role supporting children and young people with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. We are looking for reliable, calm, and compassionate individuals who can build positive relationships, maintain professional boundaries, and provide consistent support during difficult moments.

You will work as part of a supportive team delivering trauma‑informed care within residential settings and community‑based support packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, consistent, trauma‑informed support to children and young people
  • Build positive and professional relationships based on trust and respect
  • Support daily routines, independence, education, and life skills development
  • Encourage engagement in activities, hobbies, and healthy routines
  • Support young people to attend appointments, education, and community activities
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and care planning
  • Transport young people where required (own vehicle essential)
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable (paid or voluntary)
  • Calm, resilient, and emotionally mature approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care is desirable but not essential
What We Offer

Please note:

We ask staff to provide a minimum availability of 2–3 shifts per week due to the nature of the service.

If you are passionate about making a genuine difference in young people’s lives and want to be part of a professional and supportive organisation, we would love to hear from you.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all shortlisted candidates must disclose any convictions or cautions that are not protected under current filtering legislation.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory safer recruitment checks which includes an Enhanced DBS Check.
