Class 1 (Cat C+E) HGV Drivers – Whistl Bedford

Potential overtime earnings can reach up to £9,750 per year (Class 1, based on an average of 8 hours overtime per week).

42 hours guaranteed, with overtime paid after 42 hours at £23.46 per hour.

Day shift Class 1 – Monday to Friday, circa 10–11 am start available.

As a Whistl HGV Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods on pre‑planned, designated routes. We operate a collection and injection-to-carrier model, giving you a more structured and predictable day. You will represent the Whistl brand, delivering exceptional service with every journey and ensuring our customers’ goods arrive on time and in perfect condition.

• Operate and maintain HGV vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the timely and secure delivery of goods to designated locations.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues.

• 42 guaranteed hours per week.
• Weekend working allowance: up to £200/month for weekend shifts as part of your contractual schedule.
• 6th Shift incentive: additional shift paid at 1.75× your basic rate.
• Night shift allowance: 15% extra pay for hours worked between 10 pm and 6 am.

• A valid Class 1 (Cat C+E) licence and CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification (the cost of renewals during employment will be covered by Whistl).
• Digital tachograph card.
• Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents and a strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
• Ability to handle physical demands.
• Good communication skills to quickly understand instructions and liaise effectively with colleagues and customers.
