The role
We are working with a well-established secondary school to recruit a Cover Supervisor to supervise classes across KS3–KS5 during teacher absence. The school has clear behaviour expectations and structured routines, making it a supportive environment for confident classroom practitioners.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced support staff looking to gain further secondary school experience.
Northumberland | Large 11–18 secondary school with sixth form
£110 – £140 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience
11–18 secondary with sixth form provision
Strong focus on high expectations, respect, and achievement
Clear behaviour systems and supportive senior leadership
Broad curriculum with academic and vocational pathways
Accessible Northumberland location with good transport links
Supervise whole classes using pre-set work
Maintain a calm, focused learning environment
Manage behaviour in line with school policies
Ensure pupils remain on task and engaged
Provide feedback to teaching staff as required
Confident working with secondary-aged pupils
Strong communication and classroom presence
Professional, adaptable, and reliable
Previous school experience desirable but not essential
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
PAYE only – no umbrella companies
Weekly pay with competitive daily rates
Access to CPD including behaviour and safeguarding training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
