This part‑time role requires an instructor to teach secondary students in both classroom and lab settings. The instructor will cover welding processes such as GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, and metal fabrication, using NCCER and AWS D1.1 curricula. The successful candidate will inspect welds for AWS certification in supervision of an AWS CWI and may also provide OSHA safety training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide instruction in the classroom and lab environment.
- Deliver NCCER Training Certifications.
- Provide OSHA Training Certifications following D1.1 and ASME Codes.
- Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the Welding shop area.
- Collaborate with the Welding advisory committee to achieve program and college goals.
- Achieve program recruitment goals to ensure a minimum annual enrollment of at least 25 students.
- Work closely with the Regional Career Center Director and Dean of Career Education to meet recruitment and program goals.
- Assist with fundraising and grant writing for the Welding program.
- Create lesson plans and program‑level outcomes; implement them effectively while following written curriculum.
- Use college technology platforms such as CANVAS, Campus Management, and Office 365 appropriately.
- Three to five years of verifiable work‑related experience in structural or pipe welding.
- Ability to pass a structural welding knowledge test, SMAW 3G with backing, SMAW 4G with backing, and a 6G open V‑groove weld on pipe with a 6010 root.
- Educational background: equivalent to a high‑school diploma plus specialized trade or college training (minimum two years of college credits).
- Occasional walking, stepping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; frequent kneeling or crouching.
- Regular use of hands and fingers; regular reach with arms.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Continuous speaking or hearing required.
