The successful candidate will lead the school's university guidance and careers provision, supporting students in making informed, ambitious and appropriate decisions about their future education and career pathways. Working closely with students, parents, teachers, senior leaders and universities worldwide, the postholder will play a pivotal role in preparing students for successful transitions from school to higher education and beyond.
The role requires a strong understanding of international university admissions, particularly the UK, US, Canada, Australia, Europe and other key higher education destinations. The successful candidate will be confident advising students pursuing a wide range of pathways, including highly selective universities, specialist courses and alternative post-secondary opportunities.
As a key member of the school's wider student support and academic guidance provision, the Head of University and Career Counselling will help foster a culture of aspiration, informed decision-making and individual achievement, ensuring that every student receives personalised, high-quality guidance aligned with their strengths, interests and ambitions.
Position Requirements
Bachelor,
7+ Years
work experience Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant degree; postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications in university counselling, careers guidance or education would be advantageous.
- Significant experience in university admissions counselling, higher education guidance, careers counselling or a related area.
- Strong knowledge of international university admissions systems, particularly in the UK and US.
- Experience supporting students through applications to competitive universities and a range of academic disciplines.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build effective relationships with students, parents, colleagues and external institutions.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and Final date to receive applicationss.
- A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, confidentiality and inclusive educational practice.
- Experience in a British international school or another international educational setting would be an advantage.
