The Opportunity

Mattel is seeking a BI Developer based out of our Technology & Innovation Center in Hyderabad, India, reporting to the IT Director for Enterprise Data and Analytics. The role involves developing and maintaining business intelligence solutions using tools such as Tableau, Thought Spot, and IBM Cognos Analytics to enable actionable insights, reporting, and visualization for cross‑functional analytics teams. Responsibilities include collaborating with business analysts on requirements, creating robust data models, reports, dashboards, and other solutions, and ensuring data accuracy and performance across our BI platforms.

The BI Developer may also support and optimize existing dashboards and analytics solutions and help shape the company’s reporting strategies.

• Design and develop robust data models and other business intelligence solutions using Tableau, Thought Spot, and IBM Cognos Analytics to support enterprise reporting and analytics needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate them into actionable development plans, and ensure deliverables align with expectations.
• Design and build reports, interactive dashboards, and visualizations to help business users gain actionable insights.
• Partner with IT and business teams to deliver analytics projects and enhancements on time and within scope, following industry best practices.
• Work closely with data engineers and architects to ensure data pipelines and integrations support BI and reporting needs effectively.
• Create and execute test plans, validate data accuracy, and coordinate the roll‑out of BI solutions to end users.
• Provide training, guidance, and support to end users on BI tools and best practices, acting as a subject matter expert for analytics solutions.
• Optimize reporting performance by improving the efficiency of queries, dashboards, and system configurations, ensuring scalability for larger data sets.
• Conduct quality assurance checks and test BI tools, dashboards, and reports to ensure accuracy and consistency with source systems.
• Document all reports, processes, data models, and system configurations for reference and knowledge sharing.
• Design BI solutions with appropriate access controls, ensuring data privacy and security.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Analytics, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in a developer or similar role, working with reporting and visualization tools. Knowledge of Thought Spot, Tableau, and/or IBM Cognos Analytics is advantageous; certification in any of these tools is a significant advantage.
• Demonstrated experience working with data and databases, including a working understanding of SQL. Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform/Big Query is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of data preparation, ETL/ELT tools and processes is a significant advantage, especially with Ascend and/or Alteryx.
• Knowledge of data governance practices and data management tools, particularly Collibra, is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) principles and practices, including Agile methodologies, ceremonies, and tools. Certification is a significant advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
