The Basic Needs and Support Specialist supports student well-being by coordinating basic needs resources, connecting students to housing, health, and community services, and maintaining partnerships with local organizations. The role also develops and delivers health education and wellness programs aligned with best practices, collaborates across campus, and markets initiatives to students. Additional responsibilities include representing the department at events, supporting campus programs, serving on committees, and assisting with special projects.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Required EducationBachelor's Degree
Required ExperienceMinimum of one year of social service support experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs, including setting goals, coordinating activities, and measuring outcomes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in utilizing sound judgement to make effective decisions.
- Ability to handle sensitive material and maintain confidentiality.
- Master's Degree.
- Certified in CPR, Narcan, and Mental Health First Aid.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish).
