The Fitness Center Lead Assistant supports the Fitness Center Manager with Open Recreation operations and patron services, including advising patrons on proper use of exercise equipment.
Duties include, but are not limited to, providing customer service to Fitness Center patrons; enforcing Fitness Center rules and safety standards; maintaining an organized, clean, and safe environment; serving as first responder in emergency situations following college protocol; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.

Required EducationA high school diploma or GED is required, along with CPR/AED certification and certification in fitness and/or personal training.
Required ExperienceA minimum of 1 year of work experience in the fitness industry.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of CPR/AED and first aid procedures to serve as a first responder during emergencies and ensure patron safety.
- Must be able to clearly explain Fitness Center rules, provide guidance, and address patron questions or concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
Preference will be given to applicants with fitness instruction experience.
General Weekly Work ScheduleThe work schedule varies according to the Open Recreation schedule and may include day, evening and weekend hours, not to exceed 9 hours per week.
The hours of part‑time, as‑needed employees are limited to a total of less than 500 hours in each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
