Job Title

Registered Nurse – 7P‑7A (Senior Behavioral Health Program)

Base Pay Range

$33.00/hr – $39.00/hr

Sign‑On Bonus

$5,000 (Limited Time Only)

Shift Differential

$3.00/hr during the shift; additional $4.00/hr on weekends.

Payment Options

On‑Demand Pay available – receive next‑day pay.

Position Details

Full‑time; 12‑hour shifts (7P‑7A). May assume Charge Nurse responsibilities as required.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing care under physician supervision in the Catholic Care Center Senior Behavioral Health Program. Coordinates and delegates nursing care using the nursing process integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. Works collaboratively to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and delivers compassionate, person‑centered care to older adults (55+). May serve as Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks necessary to maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu and provide optimum patient care.
  • Provide direct patient care and assistance with ADLs (dressing, bathing, eating, feeding).
  • Lead or assist program‑related activities and groups reinforcing daily goals, learned skills, and cognitive stimulation.
  • Use trained de‑escalation techniques and support a trauma‑informed, person‑centered approach.
  • Perform patient rounds and safety checks; promptly report and remove safety issues.
  • Document vital signs and other assessments as assigned.
  • Use patient care equipment appropriately.
  • Follow unit safety practices: hand hygiene, PPE use, assistive devices, fall, and contraband prevention.
  • Receive shift report and perform tasks; may serve as charge nurse.
  • Lead and carry out the plan of care and treatment plan objectives and interventions.
  • Ensure medication administration per current physician orders; notify physician of condition changes.
  • Complete shift assessments promptly and document accurately in the medical record.
  • Work with visitors and families to ensure unit safety.
  • Monitor and respond to patient condition per best practice standards, policies, and protocols.
  • Supervise and assist licensed practical nursing and non‑licensed support staff to ensure task completion.
  • Obtain, transcribe, and carry out physician orders as directed.
  • Perform medication administration and near‑patient testing as ordered.
  • Review lab results and report abnormal or critical values promptly.
  • Ensure therapeutic program is delivered as scheduled and adjust assignments as required.
  • Complete accurate documentation in the patient record.
  • Receive new patients and complete all aspects of the new admission process.
  • Complete discharge process and documentation as assigned.
  • Provide patient education on medications and care.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and quality programs.
  • Ensure ordered consults are completed timely.
  • Assess and implement fall prevention, suicide risk, and elopement prevention measures.
  • Update nursing treatment plan for new admissions and reflect current patient needs.
  • Maintain documentation consistent with scope of team members during the shift.
  • Demonstrate nursing competence and deliver care via the nursing process promptly to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Complete chart audits per shift as assigned.
  • Report adverse events and complete incident reports promptly.
  • Observe and report promptly environmental care issues; submit work orders timely.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited two‑year nursing program (RN; BSN preferred).
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Kansas.
  • Minimum one year of hospital care or senior living RN experience (two years preferred).
  • One or more years working in an acute senior behavioral health hospital program preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel); experience with electronic medical records is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of common psychiatric diagnoses and nursing care for this population.
  • Demonstrated communication, time‑management, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Participation in hospital educational programs is expected.
  • Accurate documentation of clinical observations and data.
  • Deliver age‑appropriate care to older adults.
  • CPR/BSL certification.
  • CPR/BSL (current) and CPI or de‑escalation program certification.
